The best universities in the world

Have you ever wondered what the best university in the world is? What about other top-ranking schools? With so many highly accredited institutions, it’s difficult to narrow it down to just three. But with so much to offer, these esteemed universities deserve spots on this list.

1. The University of Cambridge

The University of Cambridge is one of the oldest in the world. It’s also largest in the United Kingdom. It is comprised of 31 colleges, each of which concentrates on a specific area of study. Cambridge is considered one of the best universities because of its diverse culture, long standing status as a haven for academia, and the high success rates of its students.
Cambridge has graduated many notable alumni, like writer John Milton and scientist Sir Isaac Newton. Interestingly enough, John Harvard, founder of Harvard University, is a Cambridge alumnus.

2. Harvard University

Speaking of John Harvard, his school also ranks as one of the best universities. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, it is the oldest facility for advanced learning in the United States. Harvard was established in 1636, and is now recognized as one of the leading academic facilities in the world. Harvard is home to over 2,400 faculty members and 21,000 students.
Harvard has the largest endowment of any other university. Among its famous alumni are presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy John Quincy Adams, and Barack Obama. Comedian Conan O’Brien, poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, and entrepreneur Bill Gates also attended Harvard.

3. Oxford University

Though it’s in third place on this list, many consider Oxford to be the best university in the world. Established in 1249, Oxford has been an esteemed campus of higher learning for centuries. With over 20,000 students, it has one of the lowest dropout rates in the UK, and employs 95% of its graduates within six months of finishing their degrees.
It also houses a diverse student population. Oxford’s campus consists of students from 130 nationalities, and one quarter of its students come from overseas. Oxford is comprised of 39 colleges, each with a unique area of study.
